Four Kids and It is a family adventure film adapted from Jacqueline Wilson’s contemporary reimagining of the children’s classic Five Children and It.
When new couple, American workaholic Alice (Paula Patton) and endearingly awkward David (Matthew Goode), take their children on a trip to a Cornwall cottage, the kids are horrified to learn that the holiday is in fact a family-bonding trip with their potential future step-siblings. Alice and David quickly discover that the vacation is going to be a challenge.
But the holiday takes an unexpected turn when the kids discover a magical (and very grumpy!) Psammead (Michael Caine) on the local beach, a creature with the power to grant wishes. They also meet local oddball Tristan (Russell Brand), who wants to capture the Psammead for his own gain. The ensuing adventure brings the new siblings together and helps them accept their parents’ new found happiness.
