Big and Small Online Shop is Launched!
Great news for consumers and licensees alike this month, as the Big and Small online shop goes live. The site, hosted by Heroes for Kids, is selling all the Big and Small licensed products and is giving away free Big and Small seeds in it’s first month of trading. Big and Small Do Longleat
Big and Small were a terrific success at their weekend visit to Longleat at the start of this month. They performed to nearly 2000 people and met many more in Meet and Greet sessions. It was great to see the real fans (hundreds of adoring kids) getting to interact with the characters. Here’s a couple of pictures from the event:

Come and See Big and Small at Longleat!
Next month, Big and Small are making a very special appearance at the world famous Longleat Animal Park. On the 4th, 5th and 6th June, Big and Small will be greeting guests and taking part in special ‘Big and Small Storytimes’ in the Longleat Marquee. This is a great opportunity to meet two of CBeebies’ biggest (and smallest) stars, so come down to Longleat for the day and celebrate Big and Small with us. There will also be a Big and Small shop on the site, selling a wide range of licensee product.

iPhone App a Big Hit!
The Big and Small iPhone application launched two weeks ago has proved incredibly popular, today reaching the #1 spot in the iTunes Lifestyle chart. It is also currently at #37 in the overall chart of all apps in the UK. See below for how to get your copy.

You can now get your favourite furry friends on your iPhone, with the brand new application that launched this month. Featuring video clips, songs and hilarious quotes from the show, this is one app guaranteed to please both big and small alike. You can download it here.

Big and Small Win Big at the BAFTAs
We are thrilled to announce that Big and Small Online, the groundbreaking CBeebies website produced by Plug-In Media, scooped the award for Best Interactive at last week’s Children’s BAFTAs. The website, which features 3-D Papervision technology and allows the user to explore Big and Small’s house from either character’s point of view, was also nominated for a .Net award and called ‘One of the best 3D Papervision projects we’ve seen’ in their prestigious magazine. Congratulations to all at Plug-In Media and here’s hoping it’s the first of many awards for Big and Small…
B&S Plush Well Received
After receiving a regular supply of emails from parents wanting to know when the B&S plush was being released, we’ve now received one from a happy chappy who was one of the first in line after the release date. Max Oldfield from Huddersfield sent us this lovely picture of him and his two new best friends. Thanks Max! B&S Books Hit the Shelves
The first batch of the delightful books made by HarperCollins have gone on sale up and down the country! The touching story of when Big first meets Small is retold in Meet Big, Meet Small , and the Singalong Song Book with backing track CD is a must-have for big and small children everywhere this Christmas! These quality books are the first wave of the licensing strategy to hit the shops, and will very soon be followed by plush, jigsaws, apparel and lots more!

Lenny Lends a Big Hand to Brand Licensing ‘09
Lenny Henry brought his own brand of comedy stardom to Brand Licensing Europe, held at Olympia Exhibiton Center this week. As the voice of both Big and Small, Lenny made a special appearance at the Big and Small presentation, kicking off proceedings in his own inimitable style. He said that working on Big and Small was one of the best experiences he’d ever had, putting his support behind a show which is a big brand for small people. Amazing Great Children’s Party
Big and Small got to meet 6,000 of their best friends on the 1st July, when they attended the Amazing Great Children’s Party in Battersea Park. The event, organised by Children with Leukaemia and The Variety Club of Great Britain, was a great success, and everybody enjoyed seeing our loveable duo.

With Big and Small hitting the airwaves on CBeebies Radio in September, the press has been alight with excitement. Here’s the highlights of the coverage…
Kindle Entertainment’s preschool series, Big and Small, joins the CBeebies Radio programming line-up from September 2009. Aimed at preschoolers, CBeebies Radio airs daily from 5am-8am and is part of the kid’s schedule on digital radio station BBC7. Big and Small made its TV premiere in October 2008, and is currently airing daily on BBC2 at 8:30am and CBeebies at 3:40pm. - Cynopsis Kids
‘Pre-school property to launch on digital radio station BBC7 in September’
Kindle Entertainment, the independent production company, has announced the radio premiere of its pre-school show, Big and Small, on CBeebies Radio (21×10’) from September 2009.
The Big and Small radio adaptation will follow the same format as the TV show, with each episode featuring a song and will also feature the introduction of Jim Carter as the narrator (Shakespeare in Love, The Little Vampire, The Golden Compass).
The show aims to open children’s minds to a variety of outlooks on the world and encourage them to appreciate that people have many different ideas and opinions.
CBeebies radio, aimed at the under-six audience, broadcasts daily between 5am and 8am and is part of the dedicated children’s schedule on digital radio station BBC7.
Since its TV premiere in October 2008, Big and Small has proved successful with kids and parents and is currently airing daily on BBC2 at 8:30am and CBeebies at 3:40pm.
Other significant progressions for the property include an immersive 3D website (www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/bigandsmall) which launched in December 2008.
A licensing programme continues to roll out throughout 2009 with HarperCollins having secured the worldwide publishing rights, ITV DVD having released the first DVD for Easter and Jumbo confirmed as the major toy licensee. Further licensees include CYP for music downloads and CBeebies magazine.

Our friends made a special appearance on the streets of Kingston this weekend to celebrate the fact that the Big & Small Plush have been resident at the Entertainer store this month from April 2nd to 20th. We look forward to the launch of the Jumbo Puzzles, Games and Plush in September.

JANUARY 2009
Throughout December Big and Small have continued to dominate their timeslot on UK children’s TV for 4-9 year olds as well as housewives with an ever growing audience. On the back of this success we are on the verge of signing a global publishing deal for Story books and Audio books with a major publisher and have a confirmed deal with Avanquest for a PC CD-ROM.
We have a number on advanced negotiations which will see us signing deals in the first quarter of 2009 for puzzles and games, confectionery, plush and other toys. There are also discussions progressing which will see us having Big and Small clothing and lunch-ware.
Big and Small themselves will also be busy – as well as being back on air until the end of March they will be out and about in person visiting Toy Fair and the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party in London.
Outside the UK, Big and Small broadcast has been sold to over 40 territories owing principally to the fantastic job done by Studio 100 at MIP where the programme was extremely well received. The brand licensing programme is being rapidly expanded in the Benelux region to support the TV broadcast that will begin this quarter.
Also starting this quarter is the broadcast of Big and Small in Canada on the 23rd February on Treehouse. They will also be distributing the Big and Small DVD in Canada very soon after the broadcast begins and are quite simply the best DVD partner in the territory.
To support the expansion of Big & Small in Canada we are currently in discussions with Licensing Agents and have already had direct enquiries from potential licensees! There will be another more detailed update in February when we will give you more details on exciting Big & Small news and licensing partners.
